The hunt continues...
today hubby, baby and i went for another ride to the middle of nowhere to look at some more property. the previous property we had seen although it had a beautiful view was too swampy to build more than an outhouse on! the property we saw today does take some real vision to see its true potential. you really have to envision it without the scary 1970's trailers on it. it is also right on the river but will definitely need a lot of work.
Those of you that know us well know that we love nothing better than a good project! i mean who doesn't love to spend their spare time having trailers hauled off and chopping at underbrush all the while swatting away some of the largest mosquitoes i have ever seen!

Dreaming Big...
so today hubby came home form work early because he was so excited to show me some land he had found on the river. from time to time we look at random property in the hopes of one day building a little teeny getaway. nothing fancy just a shack with a pretty view. so off we went to the middle of nowhere, over the river and through the woods to this land. usually me being the pessimist i always find something negative to say but today was a different story. i think the pics speak for themselves... it really is very pretty but also kind of swampy so we will look into it and see if it you could actually build anything there. who knows? maybe we could build a shack with a view!

who needs a gym? work-out at Walmart
So as you all know walmart is not really my favorite place to frequent. i much prefer target or walgreens but every great now and again i need a lot of stuff that walmart does sell for cheaper. therefore i feel obligated to go to save some money. so this morning i packed up the little one and off we went. this is only the second time i have taken evelyn with me because there is something about our walmart in town that seems dirty and unsanitary, you all know what i freak i am @ germs and that sort of thing, but it had to be done. we arrive and unfortunately the car ride was not quite long enough to put the baby to sleep so two aisles into the store the little one decides she has no interest in sitting in the car seat any longer. the screaming began! she wanted out right then and there! so because i had made the effort to go to walmart, i was not leaving until i had what i needed so i promptly carried her butt all the way around the store. there is nothing quite like the the work out you get from lugging a 13 pound baby all the way around walmart while pulling a cart behind you and throwing items from the top shelves into the cart! i guess all of the effort wore evelyn out though she fell asleep two minutes into the car ride home!!! :)

4 month check up
Today was Evelyn's 4 month check up at the pediatrician which is always so stressful for mommy and baby. she is right on target with weight and height at 13lbs and 24 inches! the doctor seemed very pleased with how she is coming along. she was such a trooper and waited until after the nurse had given all 4 shots before screaming like a banshee :) we will however be visiting the eye specialist to check her vision. at her last check up we had spoken about her not really grasping for toys hanging above her and we mutually agreed to give it some more time. today i mentioned to her Dr that she still seemed to have some trouble focusing even though she was now grabbing at her toys and after examining her he agreed. he said it will probably be something that corrects itself with time but to be on the safe side we should have the specialist take a look. so its a good thing we have already met our deductible for the year! poor baby is worn out from all of the excitement so with tylenol on board and an early feeding she finally quit screaming and is taking a well needed nap!

Cricket Obsession!
ok so i've been slack... here's our sunday excitement, some of you out there may think we are bordering on crazy with our cricket obsession. those of you that have seen my previous cricket post know that the bugs are very frisky and multiply rapidly. its not that i have all day to stand around looking at them they just happen to be literally right outside my front door and every time i walk outside i see that they have eaten more and more of my jasmine as well as leaving large turdlets all over the porch rail. so today there were 4 of the little b*st*rds out on the railing all at the same time. So hubby went cricket hunting. he managed to round up all of them in one tupperware!! we decided it would be a great idea to relocate them, so off we go down the block, mommy, daddy and baby with the tupperware full of larger than life crickets (which by the way were busy doing the dirty deed , see prev. post).
after depositing the crickets we turn to head home hoping that they would not follow and that's when the excitement got to be to much for the baby! she pooped all over mommy! needless to say it was a quick walk home and into the kitchen sink for baby! so fun!!!! hope y'all had a nice weekend !

Family Fun!
It was great to have the family here, Grandma and Grandpa also came to visit . Evelyn loved all of the attention! Thanks so much Aunt Karen for all of the wonderful pictures you took! We can't wait for you to return at Thanksgiving! The sad thing is with three capable babysitters in the house the most exciting thing that mommy and daddy could come up with to do was go for a bicycle ride! It really is the simple things that make us happy!

Patience...
Today is my first blog so i thought i would start with a nice surprise from my yard. Last year my sweet old lady neighbor gave me this scraggly looking plant and told me it was a lilly. So me and my not so green thumb planted it in the yard and for the whole year i have patiently watched the poor plant do absolutly nothing. i was beginning to wonder if my sweet neighbor lady had actually given me some sort of weed... anyhow this week i look out and low and behold the plant actually bloomed! my patience paid off and turns out it wasnt a weed after all!
