Good Bye Morning Nap, I'll Miss You...

About three days ago the little one decided that she no longer needed a morning nap. The first morning after a lot of screaming and tears I think she did fall asleep for about 10 minutes. I thought to myself, it was just a fluke, she's only 9 months old maybe hubby slipped her some coffee? The next day I put her in the crib and watched hidden behind the door. She is bouncing up and down hanging onto the side of the crib screaming and crying. She wanted out! So after about 30 minutes I bailed her out. Five hours later she passed out eating her afternoon bottle and slept for about 2 hours. Today I tried for about 35 minutes but it was no use, she has decided NO MORE MORNING NAP! So back out of the crib until about a half an hour ago, I knew she was exhausted, yawning and rubbing her eyes, I put her down and watched from the doorway as she stood up and sat down for about 15 minutes until she finally...
passed out! Poor thing was so tired she fell asleep sitting up! Here's hoping she takes a long nap so I can get some things done around here! :)

Dear Family...

Dear Mom, Dad, Sis and Bro in law,

I hope you are having a fabulous time in Costa Rica! I'm pretty sure when your plane took off you sucked all of the warm air out of the continental U.S. It is COLD here! The weather man keeps repeating the words "Arctic air mass" which is something you just don't hear in the south very often! So while you are enjoying the sand and sun, just wanted you to know that all of the rest of us are back home freezing our asses off!

Much Love,

Laura
P.S. - our frig decided to go on the fritz while you are away, but not to worry it is so freakin' cold here I put all of the food outside to stay cold!

Dreary Day Fun...

So I have a relative (who shall remain nameless) who likes to gift the little one with lots of outfits. Who doesn't love free clothes for their kid? On occasion though there have been a few outfits that hubby and I have a good laugh over. This particular relative NEVER gives receipts with these items so returning or exchanging is not an option. Since today is such a blah day I felt like giving myself a little chuckle which I will share with you...

This little gem of an outfit is 100% pure pink polyester!! You can tell that the little one is thrilled to be in it and is so pleased that mommy is giggling at her! I know that some people would think that the outfit is the cutest thing but there is just something about this that just seems wrong. Is it the pink racing stripe down the side, the ruffle around the bottom of the shirt or is it just the fact that the words "Baby Girl" are so hideously embroidered on the front? It for some reason makes me think of the pink bunny suit in A Christmas Story ! I do have to admit that its hard for Evelyn not to look cute in anything she wears, but seriously this outfit is something the frumpy fat kid might wear! LOL! I probably would never have even considered keeping the outfit except I know that this relative looks at the pictures I post on flickr everyday and more than likely looks forward to seeing her in the outfits she has gifted the baby with. What's a mom supposed to do? Can't let the relatives down you know?!

Weekend Recap...

So sad to say but this weekends highlights were that I went to work and the dog got a bath! Whoohoo! Going to work for me is actually fun. I only work 2 Saturdays a month since having the baby, so when I go it is actually refreshing. It is nice to get out and have some adult conversation and to use my brain a little. I will admit that my job is not challenging. I work as a receptionist at an animal hospital here in town.

It is a cushy job that hubby thinks is a total waste of time. My thinking is that as long as they continue to let me work my measly amount of hours that I am still gainfully employed and one day when I do go back to work (can you here the squeals of delight from hubby?) I won't have a huge blank spot on my resume. I know from experience that when applying for jobs it is often frowned upon when someone has several years of nothing, being the happy homemaker doesn't really count for much in career land. Even though some days it is harder work being at home then it would be if I was actually at work.

In other news, our poor neglected dog Sasha got the spa treatment this weekend. Bath and blow dry! Sasha is the sweetest dog who has really taken a back seat since baby was born. She is such a good dog who never seems to mind the fact that she gets minimal attention these days. I think she has a secret love hate relationship with Evelyn. On the one paw she hates that she is not the center of attention anymore and sometimes I'm sure she gets annoyed the way the baby pulls on her hair and even worse mommy and daddy letting the baby ride on her.

On the other paw the older the baby gets the amount of cheerios, sweet potato puffs, baby food etc. that hits the floor is becoming like an all day buffet of treats for her. Who wouldn't love some cheerios drenched with baby drool off the floor! I am very thankful that Sasha is such a gentle old girl and am glad that Evelyn's first experience with animals has gone really well (knock on wood). Working in the animal business I have seen many pets get the boot out of the house after baby comes home. Here's hoping that their relationship continues to go well!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, hopefully more exciting then ours! Happy Monday!

Sixth Sense...

So I swear the little one has this sixth sense to know when i am really trying hard to catch something on camera. It has been a project of mine since she was born to take some sort of picture of her everyday. Which i in turn post on flickr for friends and family to see. I have been trying for a week now to get video of her pulling herself up and have been totally unsuccessful! Every time I'm ready she's not in the mood or i miss it by a split second! For example, I put her in the crib to wash my hands and i come back and she is standing up! How frustrating! The same for when she decides to try to crawl.

I call it her pretend crawl because she gets us all excited by getting into the perfect crawl position and then a big smile as she lays back down. I thinks she knows the camera is rolling! Yet somehow when we're are not looking she manuevers across the floor! The little stinker!

A New Year...

So as I sit here and look at the the mess I call my desk I wonder how 2 days into the new year I am somehow already behind schedule. I had planned on new years day organizing the paper mess yet somehow it didn't happen and here I am procrastinating once again. I think that possibly I need to not spend so much time on blogging, my space, facebook, emails, gossip sites, etc. but then again I know reading perez hilton really does make me an informed person. So tomorrow is another day and this disorganization will still be here and at some point I will find my desk under all of this junk!
